Thank You for Staying Focused on What Matters
I am incredibly humbled and amazed by the overwhelming surge of support our campaign has received over the last few weeks. Despite a highly coordinated effort by some of my opponents and their inner circles to shift the narrative, the community has seen right through the noise.
To everyone who actually knows me, my character, and my background—thank you for standing strong. You know my history: from traveling overseas leading teams to do international humanitarian work with refugees and those who are persecuted, to volunteering with the homeless, to clearing dead brush on First Nations reservations, to serving on the Board of tri-Pride for many years, to representing our diverse communities on the Board of a multicultural radio station. You know that I am proudly pansexual and an international adult lifestyle relationship educator; you know I have been involved in running security for many protests across all political ideologies; and you know that I am fiercely unapologetic and opinionated when it comes to calling out culture war political ideologies.
Because you know exactly who I am, the attempt to distract voters has completely backfired. Instead of tearing us down, your support has gone up. Our website traffic has increased exponentially, and the sheer volume of phone calls and neighbors dropping by to visit—and even asking to donate directly on my payment terminal—has been profoundly encouraging.
This momentum proves that voters want to remain firmly focused on actual municipal politics. I are here to address the real issues affecting our city: skyrocketing property taxes, wasteful spending, looking out for small businesses, safety on our streets, fixing our crumbling roads and sidewalks, building better transit infrastructure, looking after and speaking up for the homeless, food insecurity, supporting our Arts and Culture community, movement on the 2nd hospital file, and protecting our local environment.
Everything else is just noise, and I refuse to be a part of it. Let’s keep moving forward and keep our focus on making our community a safer, fairer, affordable and better place for everyone.
