About Alec Purves

Alec has spent much of his life working hard, helping others, and staying connected to his community. With years in the foundry and steel industry; as well as time spent working in security, and financial reports and auditing; he understands the value of honest work, responsibility, and treating people with respect.

He has also devoted decades to community service and volunteer leadership. Alec has served on numerous Board of Directors; including tri-Pride, 98.5FM multicultural radio, Chairperson of a Community Association, and served on several community service clubs including the Lions and Leo clubs, and the Royal Canadian Legion.

He volunteers with the Royal City Mission, Guelph Jazz Festival, the Rotarians Guelph Ribfest and Tour de Guelph; and has also served as a volunteer first responder. In addition, Alec has also led several teams on international humanitarian trips overseas to Southeast Asia, the Middle East and Central America; reflecting a long-standing commitment to public service and helping people both locally and internationally.

What stands out most about Alec is his down-to-earth approach and genuine care for people around him. His background has shaped his belief in fairness, common sense and standing up for the community. He brings a working person’s perspective, along with a sincere commitment to making a positive difference.
